Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decreit structure, with its brutalist architecture and eeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark eriod in history whose ainful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s olitical ast without overlaying its historical dimension. It’s an imressive work from a woefully underreresented national cinema.
